Plate Rolling Machine

Our Plate Rolling Machine, also known as a roll bending machine, plate bending machine, or rolling machine, is a versatile piece of equipment designed to shape various types of sheet metal into round or conical forms.

There are two main types of plate rolling technologies employed in our machines:

  1. Four-Roller Machines:
    • These machines feature a top roll, a pinching roll, and two side rolls.
    • The flat metal plate is inserted into the machine and “pre-bent” on one side, with the side rolls performing the bending action.
    • The pinching roll securely holds the plate in place during the bending process.
  2. Three-Roller Machines (Variable Pitch):
    • Our three-roller machines utilize a single pressing top roll and two pressing side rolls.
    • The unique feature of these machines is the variable pitch or variable geometry, allowing all three rolls to move and tilt.
    • During operation, the top roll moves vertically while the side rolls move horizontally, pressing the metal plate between them.
    • This variable three-roll design offers the advantage of rolling various thicknesses and diameters of cylinders with precision and efficiency.

Whether you require precise cylindrical shapes or customized conical forms, our Plate Rolling Machine provides the flexibility and accuracy needed for your metal fabrication needs.

Structural features

Horizontal V Grooving Machine and Vertical V Grooving Machine are two different types of machines used for creating V-shaped grooves on sheet metal. Here are their characteristics and differences:

W11F Series Asymmetric 3-Rollers Plate Bending Machine

  • Structure: Mechanical 3-roller asymmetrical plate rolling machine.
  • Both top and bottom rollers are main driving rollers.
  • Bottom roller lifts up and down to clamp the plate tightly.
  • Side roller moves to tilt for pre-bending the plate and forming circles.
  • Compact design, easy operation, and maintenance.
W11F Series Asymmetric 3-Rollers Plate Bending Machine
W11 Series Mechanical 3-Rollers Rolling Machine

W11 Series Mechanical 3-Rollers Rolling Machine

  • Structure: Mechanical 3-roller symmetrical plate rolling machine.
  • Vertical movement of the top roller powered by a hydraulic oil tank, applying pressure on the plate for bending deformation.
  • Horizontal movement of the top roller powered by an electric motor, adjusting the horizontal distance between the top and bottom rollers for asymmetrical pre-bending.
  • Bottom roller driven by an electric motor, providing torque for bending the plate.
  • Features digital control, high precision pre-bending, and various shape bending capabilities.

W12 Series 4-Rolls Sheet Metal Plate Bending Machine

  • Structure: Hydraulic 4-roller plate rolling machine.
  • Used for pre-bending and rolling cylindrical and arc shapes in industries such as pressure vessel manufacturing, machinery, hydropower, and construction.
  • Top roller driven by a hydraulic motor, inducing rotation of bottom and side rollers through friction with the metal plate.
  • Bottom roller, side roller, and drop end driven by hydraulic oil tanks.
  • Equipped with CNC control, digital readout, and high precision rolling capabilities.
W12 Series 4-Rolls Sheet Metal Plate Bending Machine
W11S Series 3-Rollers Variable Geometry Plate Roller Machine

W11S Series 3-Rollers Variable Geometry Plate Roller Machine

  • Structure: Hydraulic 3-roller upper roller universal plate rolling machine.
  • Vertical movement of the top roller powered by a hydraulic oil tank.
  • Horizontal movement of the top roller powered by an electric motor, adjusting the distance between top and bottom rollers for asymmetrical pre-bending.
  • Bottom roller rotation provides torque for bending the plate.
  • Features special bending processes, high precision pre-bending, and digital control.

What are the different among its?

The main differences among these machines lie in their structural design, driving mechanisms, control systems, and application fields. W11F and W11 series are mechanical 3-roller plate rolling machines, W11S series is a hydraulic 3-roller upper roller universal plate rolling machine, and W12 series is a hydraulic 4-roller plate rolling machine. Each machine has specific advantages and applications, so the selection should be based on specific processing needs and budget considerations.

Plate Rolling Machine FAQ

What is done to compensate for deflection of rolls during pre-bending and rolling?

All rolls are crowned (cambering) for compensating deflection.

What is the arrangement provided for balancing of top roll when swing arm is opened?

Top roll is counter balanced automatically once the drop end is opened without any jacks or manual arrangement.

Is there any method to know the position of bottom rolls?

DRO (Digital Readout) is housed on the operating console which gives the position of the bottom rolls with respect to the top roll.

What is the capacity for cone bending?

Cones can be bent up to the edge-bending capacity of the machine. The bottom rolls can be inclined for the required cone angle.

What is the level of protection for electrical components?

Some of the electrical bough outs are IP 55 like motors, switchgears etc. The electrical cabinet will be manufactured as per our standard practices and will meet IP 55 protection.

Is the main drive reversible?

Forward and reverse to the main drive is provided. The bottom rolls can be moved up and down individually.

What is the type of oil required?

Hydraulic oil – Enklo 68 Planetary Gear box – EP 90

Where are the main machine controls?

Operating console houses push buttons for all the operations of the machine. The console is movable so that the operator can keep it at any desired location.

Can we bend hot plates on the machine to get higher thickness capacity?

Although the standard machine is not meant for hot rolling, occasional hot rolling can be done (a few jobs per month) provided that suitable precautions are taken.

Some plates have high yield point. The machines are rated for 26kg/mm2. How to find the equivalent thickness?

A. Divide the Actual YP by 26. Find square root of this number. Multiply this value by actual plate thickness to get effective thickness.
